Q&A, with Lee (Singer, Guitarist)

Define your genre in five words or less:

Stripped back, Chilled, Melancholy, Acoustic.

How long have you been writing and playing music? Was there a song or moment that first inspired you?

Started a band with my brother when I was twelve. Have been writing and playing music ever since! My brother played guitar, and I thought it sounded pretty cool, so I gave it a go myself.

If you could travel back in time and show one of your musical heroes your stuff, who would it be and why?

As a kid, Oasis were my heroes, and got me onto a lot of other bands, so it would be Noel Gallagher. Nowadays my music taste is as diverse as Kanye West, Queens of the Stone Age, and Chet Baker.

What are your favourite venues?

The Brunswick Hotel, Cherry Bar.

What are your top 5 favourite albums?

Definitely Maybe - Oasis 808s and Heartbreak - Kanye West A Rush Of Bood To The Head - Coldplay Songs For The Deaf - QOTSA Hot Fuss - The Killers

What is your most memorable gig (playing or watching)?

Osijek, Croatia, 2012, with my band Orange Room.

Where do you usually draw inspiration from as a writer? Do you have a process? eg music first, lyrics first etc

I used to start with the music, then put lyrics around it, but these days I do lyrics first, and write music to fit. I find inspiration from everyday experience, and embellish them a bit.
