Songwriters in the Round Returns

Melting Pot is very excited to announce that Melbourne’s favourite weekly acoustic event “Songwriters in the Round” will be returning – this time to be held on Sunday afternoons at the Wesley Anne in Northcote.

Having run Songwriters in the Round (SITR) in Smith St since the beginning of 2009, Melting Pot was very disappointed to hear that Seraphim could no longer host the event with plans to turn the restaurant into apartments later this year getting the green light.

With around 150 SITR events and more than 300 different artists performing since it began, there was never any doubt that it would continue.  The question was whether the right space – something comfortable, unique, supportive and intimate – could be found.

The net was cast wide with venues, cafes, restaurants, bars, theatres, churches, warehouses and galleries all explored.  Despite the interest expressed by various groups and venues, in the end The Wesley Anne was an easy decision for Melting Pot to make.

The Wesley Anne already has a strong reputation for supporting local singer songwriters and so working with a venue that shares and understands the Melting Pot philosophy was very important.

A big thank you to everyone who assisted us in our search.  It was great to get so much support from the local community.

We can’t wait for it to start.  Hope to see you there!

Melting Pot’s SITR begins at the Wesley Anne on Sunday the 17th of June at 2pm.
