Hello and welcome to another installation of ‘Melting Pot’s Top 4’ – where we bring you the 4 absolute must-see gigs in Melbourne this coming week.

We’re scouring deep and hard to find you the cream of the crop that live music in this town has to offer!

has teamed up with DELSINKI RECORDS to form what can only be described as music’s ‘dynamic duo’.

Fresh from a regional tour, and a recent release, ‘Love One,’ they return to the big smoke to hit the stage armed with tunes both new and old.

Taylor brings with her powerful rock force whilst Craig Johnston (Delsinki Records) provides the alt-folk, simmering vibe; which when combined produces a truly unclassifiable yet mesmerising and well-constructed performance.

are ready to adorn the intimate Retreat Hotel stage this coming Thursday with their vibrant, yet sometimes morose classic country vibe, led effervescently by Leman’s striking and unmistakable lead vocal.

Often promoting strength in the female characters she creates, Leman’s songwriting and delivery comes straight from the golden age of country and is a show not to be missed for any fan.

Setting up the show for the night is the incomparable Cat Canteri.

Domini-1-high-resWe love it when musicians get together for a good cause, and this Wednesday, you can head down to The Toff in Town to see some of our massive favourites on a lineup that screams ‘YES!’

DOMINI FORSTER, McROBIN, THE FINKS, HANNAH BLACKBURN and MICKEY COOPER band together for ‘Sweet Sweet Marmalade’ to raise funds for non-for-profit, Oxfam.

Oxfam fight for the injustices surrounding poverty, on a global scale, and this very show is part of their annual music-led fundraising project – Oxjam. Tickets online or at the door if still available.

are back with their ‘I Thought We Knew Each Other’ Tour kicking them right across the country in support of their new single of the same name.

Having four previous ARIA top 10 albums, and rolling on into their tenth year together, these indie-rockers seem to go from strength-to-strength with their often entertaining and high-energy live shows leaving fans begging for more.

Support comes from High Violet and Horace Bones this Friday night. Clear your diaries, folks, this one is set to be a cracker!

Josh Forner

Josh Forner is a folk/pop songwriter from Melbourne, Australia and Virginia, USA. Forner was born in Melbourne on July 2 1988, and spent the first 18 months of his life there before moving with his parents to the town of Reston in Virginia, USA. At the age of 3, Forner and his mother returned to Melbourne, where he has stayed ever since.

Josh sings of love, primarily (wow, what a shock right?), but also on his list of ‘hot topics’ are politics, famine, poverty and - of course – landscapes: the folk writer’s favourite.

He’s played with some of Melbourne’s stalwarts including Timothy Cannon, Bridget Pross, Mr Brady, Pro Rata, Gabriel Lynch & Kyle Taylor, and has contributed two of his tracks to non-profit compilation CDs in the past.

Josh’s repertoire continues to grow. He released his first album, a 10-track LP entitled ‘Leading to Nowhere’ at The Workers Club on May 28th, 2013. Forner has since returned to the studio to begin work on a 5-track solo EP to be released by the end of 2013. Following that, he has plans for album number two in 2014.
