Welcome to Melting Pot Online

March 1, 2012

Melting Pot is proud to present our new website, Melting Pot Online! We’ve tried to make this a place for artists and music enthusiasts alike – a hub of information, advice and media for Melbourne’s thriving local music and arts scene.

On the home page you’ll see our featured articles, videos, interviews and gig information, a sampler of just some of the latest things going on.

From there, you can go to check out the ‘Blogs’ section for interviews with local artists and industry figures, reviews of gigs and music, news about Melting Pot and the scene in general, and valuable nuggets of knowledge from some of the folks who have helped shape Melbourne’s music. Also, be sure to check out the regular articles from our resident bloggers for advice on everything from the nitty-gritty of DIY recording to invaluable legal advice.

The ‘Artists’ section acts as a database for our city’s huge pool of talented musicians and comedians, where you can look up tracks, info and gig dates on some of your favourite local acts, discover new comedians, artists or bands, or get yourself on there for the city to see.

Next to that is the ‘Friends’ section, where you can find similar information on many of the writers, photographers, filmmakers, visual aritsts, live sound and lighting people, sound engineers and producers, and publicists out there – this section will grow as time goes on and more of the great creatives out there sign up.

In ‘Gigs’ you’ll find information on Melting Pot’s acclaimed regular events – Songwriters in the Round, Open Mic Mondays, and our upcoming Band Night – including featured artists and venue info.

This is just the beginning, music fans – soon we also expect to be able to offer information about the photographers, designers, music writers and countless other individuals who make up one of the best, most varied and most lively scenes around. So poke around, have fun, and get involved!
